Next day had a brief stop at TiriTiri Island, now a bird sanctuary. Old lighthouse was very impressive and again very well looked after.

Below is a Tui. Probably a nice bird but I prefer the beer.

On to Rakino Island for the night

Then back to Auckland as the warnings for cyclone Lusi increase after it left 3 people dead in Vanuatu.

Our last night on the boat was supposed to be at Waiheke Island but we changed the plan, put the boat back in the marina and caught the ferry to Waiheke. Our hosts for the weekend, Gudge and Pru put us all up at their batch in the hills of Waiheke overlooking the main bay and giving us a box seat for the arrival of cyclone Lusi.

11 of us descended on Waiheke Island to be met at the wharf by Pru and Gudge in their 2 cars.

After a Cook's tour of part of the island it was back to the batch for sundowners on the balcony.

The next day we toured a few wineries on the island and had a great lunch at Peacock Sky Winery

Then back to prepare for the Inaugural Trans Tasman Table Tennis Tounament, party and feast.
There be fresh figs for entree and desert

I carved the roast pork so got the bone.

Food was plentiful

And lots of hats!

And Cyclone Lusi came rolling in only to pass well west of NZ and put on a very disappointing show

Heather and Steve won the TT by a whisker.

A quiet morning followed with a further tour of more parts of the Island before departing on the ferry back to Auckland.

That afternoon we picked up our hire car and explored the Viaduct Precinct at Auckland harbour where the Americas Cup was held

Then back to Paul's place to plan our car tour itinery for the next 9 days
